village defend

First, have set 35 on. Then village defend gives a location with coordinates where you have to go to kill bandits. There’s a flag that you have to burn to start mob waves:

  1. 2x trooper
  2. mage, archer, trooper
  3. medic, archer, sergeant, 2x trooper
  4. leader, mage, 2x trooper; might sum additional archer and medic

There are different sets of bandits:

prize list

An announcement of upcoming Event prizes stands at the site of the future shop.

Prizes cost 1,000 for the first, then 2,000 then 3,000 then 4,000 stockpile. However, the first prize MUST ALWAYS be the village sign. To get the maximum amount of eq, three items, you need 10,000 stockpile. It is mathematically impossible to get 15,000 for a fourth eq prize.

Some example prizes are listed. Most eq prizes will come in two sizes, small and lightweight vs. large and covering. Prizes will scale with their owner’s current level, maxxing out at +greatly to one stat [str/int/wis/dex/con], +slightly to one skill or spell from your train/study lists [chosen at time of purchase, some few exceptions] and a minor tertiary effect [varies by prize slot]. Stat and spell/skill bonuses will be halved after one year, but the items will remain indestructible forever.

Prize 1: message board mounted on thick posts

This board is where the local villagers post requests for help, be it
supplies, animals, materials or combat. A set of crates sit next to the sign

longer a distinction between 'supplies' and 'stockpile'. Instead, you will be
able to spend supplies (prices vary, but in the thousands) to request from a
list of options.
1) a specific item, such as crops, leather, food, or ore.
The list of items you can ask for is based on the village's total skill
in that category (such as Farming or Mining). Higher total skill means
you can ask for better items.
2) another owned conscription orders.
Once the event ends, this will be the only way to get more villagers,
or to swap out any you already have.
3) a bandit raid

Bandits will no longer damage your village no matter what.

village help

The main point of this event is to build, maintain, and upgrade your village. This is done through several steps.

Gather Villagers

Villagers are picked up through the use of conscription orders. While in combat with a monster of a playable race that’s badly injured, you can try to force it to surrender, then bring it back here to put it to work for you. Tougher monsters make higher tier villagers with more and higher-level skills.

For obvious gameplay/safety reasons, a lot of monsters resist being captured. This includes most guild monsters, monsters that block exits, and very high level monsters. Immune monsters won’t consume your orders.

The maximum number of villagers you can have is six. You cannot house more villagers than it can feed, but most villagers have at least one food skill.

Put Them To Work

Villages don’t need to be micromanaged. They’ll use their skills to build up ‘supplies’ using their skills. The higher their skills, the more supplies. Each of the skills is weighted the same for the purposes of supplies.

Farming, Foraging, Hunting, and Fishing are food skills. Mining, Lumberjacking, Skinning and Trading are repair skills.

Raise the Comfort Level

While your villagers have basic buildings and land to gather resources, they don’t start with anything else. Tables and chairs, plates and silverware, doors and light sources - all sorts of things can turn your village into a place to live, not just a few empty rooms.

Comfort items are classified by their quality. Random items are typically not very effective, but better than nothing. Be on the lookout for better items, or maybe try to have them made.

A comfortable villager is a productive villager. The higher your village’s comfort, the more ‘supplies’ your villagers will provide. Getting some comfort level quickly will therefore have the greatest overall effect in the Event.

Some comfort items, like drinking vessels and chairs, are needed in a full dozen. Others, like fountains, flags, and musical instruments, are only needed singly. Your village’s comfort level is formed by the best five items in each of those groups, so you don’t need to fill out every single option.

Perform Daily and Weekly Quests

Every day, your village will ask for help in five ways. Doing the first will give your village 50 ‘stockpile’ and the others 25 each.

Every Monday, your village will ask for help in three larger ways. Doing the first will give your village 750 ‘stockpile’ and the others 100 each.

Most of these quests will require you to hunt down creatures, find and bring back items, or get eq. Most of these quests are easier with help.

Defend Your Village From Raids

Every weekend, you village will be attacked. You can either defend it yourself, or arm them and hope they defend themselves.

If you choose to defend your village personally, you’ll chase down the raiders nearby and fight them. Expect a tough fight, which will be stronger depending on the tier of your village - villages with more supplies are more lucrative targets and attract higher-level raiders. Killing them off will spare your village the raid entirely.

If you want the village to defend itself, they’ll need armour and weapons. The better weapons and armour they have, the better they’ll do in the raid. Depending on their ac (armour class) and wc (weapon class), the villagers could either suffer a total loss or a complete victory, keeping anywhere from 0% to 100% of their ‘supplies’. Any ‘supplies’ they protect become ‘stockpile’. How quickly the village recovers after damage depends on its total repair skill.

Any ‘stockpile’ defended from raids, or earned by quests, are immune to raids. These are the event points you’ll spend on prizes at the end of the Event. The maximum ‘stockpile’ you can possibly get is about 3,000 per week.

The fall event, Homestead, is now pretty much live. Some bugs still need fixing, but the important elements seem to be up and running.

The event’s headquarters is south of Arelium, by the river southwest of the Farmstead. Most of the information is there, but here’s the quick version:

  1. Establish your village by staffing it with captured conscripts (or, rarely, willing ones)
  2. Perform their daily and weekly quests, which ask for monster kills, custom-coded items, recently-made low-level eq, that sort of thing.
  3. Increase their comfort with furnishings like beds, blankets, pots, and curtains.
  4. Protect them from bandits over the weekend.

Start working on your village now so you can defend it - either by equipping your villagers with weapons and armour, or killing the bandits yourself (3-man party suggested). Keep me posted with bugs and use the events channel to share information.

The Homestead Event of 2026 is still being tested. Thanks to mortal input, several bugs have been addressed.

It looks like daily and weekly quests are going pretty much as intended, certainly enough to continue. The next stage in testing will involve multiple villagers and comfort items. Multiple villagers is simple enough, just re-visit your village and get another set of orders. Comfort items of high quality might take some more effort. There are three ways to get those, and one of them is “knowing where such items happen to already exist in game, and going there to get them”. That’s going to be extremely hit-or-miss, but take advantage if you happen to know one. The second is the create item skill, which is available to monks and merchants who figure out the appropriate quest. Considering the value of the skill for the event, might be worth looking into. The third isn’t under your control, but I’ll be monitoring it and making sure it, you know, happens. This is why I log everything.

Continue to do those daily and weekly quests. I could use the testing, and I have no current plans to wipe/reset the stockpile point totals. And it wouldn’t hurt to know what kind of options you’ll have. A heads-up: the difficulty of the quests will increase as your village improves. Villages staffed with higher-level villagers at larger comfort values will see more difficult quests. These villages also provide more supplies, so it’s supposed to be worth it.

I’m going to keep an eye on the current status and fine-tune it for another few days. If everything is, or becomes, under control, I’ll unveil the next steps.
